Old town Wickenburg, the Southwest's most western town
Less than an hour from Phoenix, Wickenburg remains a world apart from the busy metropolis. Founded in 1863 by ranchers, farmers, and miners, the town is named for Henry Wickenburg, one of the first gold prospectors in central Arizona and the discoverer of Vulture Mine. Today the miners have long been replaced by cowboys. If bull-riding is not your style Wickenburg also offers top-drawer resort amenities including championship golf courses, tennis courts, and our beautiful community pool. Also on offer are pristine hiking trails, tours of historic Vulture Mine, and the therapeutic waters of Castle Hot Springs, as well as annual events like Gold Rush Days & National Senior Pro Rodeo, the Bluegrass Festival, and the High Desert Golf Classic. And of course, old town Wickenburg awaits with our Desert Caballeros Western Museum, historic Santa Fe Train Depot, authentic tack shops, boutiques, and culinary delights including authentic Mexican cuisine.
